PRESERVING OUR MARRIAGES- DAY 4!

Husbands ought not to stop loving their wives because she displeases him!   To do so would be cowardly!   How do we know this?  If men ought to love their wives as Christ loves the church, we must know that Christ never stops loving the church, in spite of our disrespect, disregard, irreverence, disloyalty, disobedience and dishonor to Him at times.  Christ’s love is unconditional and so must a man’s love be for his wife. 

Don’t stop being the lover, friend, protector, provider, caretaker, priest, prophet and head that God called you to be, just because you are displeased by your wife.  Lead her by example and not just by command!  You do what God has called you to do, whether she does her part or not.  Remember, God will hold you responsible for your failure to be a husband but, not for her refusal to be a wife!  Always try your best to meet your obligations to her and encourage her to meet hers to you.  Don’t be bitter, love her more!! Colossians 3:19, "Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them."

Understanding and accepting that marriage is first to break us of our own separate will and then to make us into the union of God’s will, is the first lesson to learn.   There will be pain in the process, but the end result will be a marriage after God’s own heart.  Don’t give up on your queen, there’s a reason why God put her in your life!!!
