GUARD YOUR TONGUE! 5/24/12

GUARD YOUR TONGUE!  5/24/12

There is something we all possess that can be our greatest asset or our weakest liability. It can be our greatest strength or our worst weakness.  It can create the best of friends or the worst of enemies.  It can bring us prosperity, or poverty. It can bring us great victory or agonizing defeat.  It can bring blessings or curses. It can bring life or death and we get to decide.  What is this thing? It’s our TONGUE!  Proverbs21:18 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Watch what you say out of your mouth!  Use wisdom when you speak!

Consider this scripture text: James 3:4-6
Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

There are relationships between spouses, children, parents, in-laws and friends that are being destroyed on a daily basis because of someone’s tongue..   The unruly tongue is a thief and a murderer of all that is wholesome.  The unruly tongue has an insatiable appetite for verbal violence, deceit and destruction.  Make sure that the enemy is not using your tongue to his benefit.  But, instead, follow Psalm 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness, And of Your praise all the day long.

Use your tongue for the glory and honour of almighty God.  May God help us all to guard our tongue that we might not fall into His judgment because of it.  Psalm 39:1  I said, "I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me."

How we use our tongue is a choice, choose wisely!
